Transportation and Weather Delays

School Cancellations

The Goodwin University Magnet School Central Office will determine when RMS is closed, delayed, or remote due to inclement weather. Cancellation information can be found on our website as well as RMS's social media pages. RMS will also use an automated notification system to let you know when there is a school cancellation or delayed opening. For this reason, it is very important for the school to have your most up-to-date contact information at all times.

Your student’s transportation will be dependent on the town that you reside in (e.g., if your home town cancels school but RMS is open, there will be no transportation provided for your child). When all magnet schools and districts are closed, RSCO Transportation will not transport students (i.e., all bus routes are cancelled). When only Hartford Public Schools (HPS) are closed and the remaining magnet schools and/or districts are open, RSCO Transportation will not transport students (i.e., all bus routes are cancelled). When HPS is open, and some magnet schools and/or districts are closed, RSCO Transportation will only transport students to and from those magnet school and/or districts that are open.

Delayed Openings

In the event of a delayed opening, RMS follows a 2-hour delay, and school will start at 10:30 a.m. RSCO Transportation will delay bus routes using the magnet school or district with latest delay on the bus route.

Early Dismissals

When there is a weather-related early dismissal, we will alert families about dismissal time, and Studio will be cancelled. In the event of an early dismissal, RMS adheres to RSCO Transportation's Tier 2 Bus Route at 12:15 p.m.. Please note that if a bus has more than one town on its route, and at least one of the towns has an early dismissal, then all the students on that bus route will be released early.

RMS has early dismissal every Friday as well as some additional days throughout the school year. During December and March there are parent/teacher conferences and students will be dismissed early for the week.
