Before-and-after-school care

Payment Method: At this time, RMS is not accepting cash, checks, or money orders. We ask that families use our secure online payment system accessible in the link above. There is no additional fee to pay online. Families with more than one child from their immediate family enrolled in Studio will receive a 10% discount.

Payment Due Date: All families are responsible for the full payment each month. Families will receive a monthly statement the first week of each month that contains payments, credits, and past-due balances. Payments are due on or before the 20th of every month for Studio services the following month. For example, the payment due in August is for the month of September. There will be a $25.00 late fee for all payments received the next business day after the 20th. Please note that any payment received after the 20th of the month may not be reflected in the monthly statement. If a tuition payment is more than 60 days past due, the student will be at risk of forfeiting their spot.  

Care 4 Kids Program: If a family has applied for the Care 4 Kids program and is waiting on the status of their application, they are still responsible for their full monthly payment until they are notified by Riverside Magnet School that we have received payment from Care 4 Kids. At that point, we will provide the family with the amount covered, the new monthly balance, and when that change will occur. Spanish National Honor Society

We have begun our partnership with the Spanish National Honor Society at Connecticut River Academy. Students engaged in creative and culturally enriching art activities inspired by the life and work of Frida Kahlo. We began by reading “Frida Kahlo and Her Animalitos,” which introduced students to Frida’s love for animals and how they influenced her artwork. Students explored images of her self-portraits and discussed her unique artistic style. They then created their own self-portraits or colored images inspired by her favorite subjects, such as monkeys and other animals. To complete their projects, students crafted picture frames using popsicle sticks, adding a personal and hands-on touch to their artwork.

In addition, students participated in a fun and meaningful activity called “My Family Piñata,” inspired by traditional Mexican art and family themes. Using paper bags, tissue paper, glue, and markers, they designed mini piñatas and decorated them with drawings or pictures representing their families. This activity allowed students to express their creativity while reflecting on the importance of family and cultural traditions. Overall, the week was filled with artistic exploration, hands-on learning, and opportunities for personal expression.

Sports Clinics with Connecticut River Academy

We’re proud to share an exciting new partnership between Riverside Magnet School (RMS) and Connecticut River Academy Athletics!

Through this collaboration, high school students involved in club sports at Connecticut River Academy will have the opportunity to work directly with our RMS scholars. This initiative is designed to build connections across grade levels while promoting teamwork, mentorship, and a love of athletics.

The partnership will kick off with a series of soccer clinics hosted at the new playground at Riverside Magnet School. During these sessions, high school athletes will guide our scholars through the fundamentals of soccer in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.

All students are encouraged to participate, regardless of skill level. Whether your child is new to the game or already has experience, these clinics are a great opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun!

Looking ahead, we hope to expand this partnership to include basketball and volleyball programs, and possibly even arrange visits to Connecticut River Academy. A single waiver will cover participation in all of these opportunities.

If this partnership is successful, we may also be able to offer rowing and golf clinics in the future, further broadening the experiences available to our students.

2026 RMS Studio Chess Championship 

The 2026 Studio Chess Championship brought an incredible display of strategy, focus, and sportsmanship to our school community! Over the past few weeks, students dedicated themselves to sharpening their skills, learning new tactics, and building confidence—all leading up to an exciting final showdown in a double-elimination tournament format that kept the competition engaging until the very end.

Throughout the championship, students demonstrated not only strong gameplay but also outstanding character. Even with the heightened emotions of competition, we were especially proud to see students supporting one another, showing patience, and handling both victories and challenges as best as they could.

Chess isn’t just a game—it’s a powerful way to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and perseverance. We’re thrilled to see our students embracing these skills and enjoying every moment of the experience.
